Spooky Walk 2018

Sunday, October 28, 6:00-7:30pm

Spooooky Walk is coming! When darkness descends on Sunday October 28, put the kids in the costumes and head over to Menotomy Rocks Park. You’ll see spine-tingling stations along the candle-lit path around the pond, and   finish up with donuts on the Jason Street field. Entrance will be at the Jason Street gate, and please bring a flashlight.

In any setting, TAI CHI can help to refocus your energy, rejuvenate your body, and ease your mind. But to do tai chi in the fresh morning air at a cul-de-sac in Menotomy Rocks Park is an experience not to be missed!

Instructor Joshua Grant is a well-known martial artist and has over 35 years of experience. He has been a member of national Tai Ji teams and been a gold medalist. He is the owner of Back Bay’s Boston Kung Fu Tai Chi Institute as well as the author of “Tai Chi for Wimps” and an instructional video series.

Moonlight Beach Party at the Res!!

Moonlight Beach Party

Join us on Saturday, July 26th for a fun filled evening of music, dancing, food, drink, live auction and raffles.

The Arlington Reservoir beach will be transformed into a paradise under the stars! Enjoy a fun adult evening with a special catered dinner as we raise funds and awareness for Arlington parks.

The event will take place from 7 pm to 11 pm and tickets must be purchased prior to the event.

Tickets are $65 each or $120 per couple.

Shakespeare in the Park fundraiser, Tues 6/17/14

Join us for a Shakespeare in the Park Party & Fundraiser for this year’s Shakespeare in the Park Performances:

Tuesday, June 17, 7:30 at the Kickstand Café.  We’re having twinkly lights, wine, food, entertainment, and raffle prizes including season tickets to American Repertory Theater!!

Arlington Children’s Theater will perform scenes from “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” and our special guest Jeannette Hawley (Costume Shop Manager for ART) will be sharing behind-the-scenes stories and secrets from ART’s current, magical (and entirely sold-out!) “Tempest,” including tales of working with Teller on the play’s magic elements.

Suggested donation is $25 to support Shakespeare in the Park.  I really hope you can come!!!


Once again Tai Chi classes will be held on the Jason Street Field cul-de-sac this spring. Boston martial artist Dorri Li will be teaching classes on two mornings:

Thursdays 9:30 – 10:30 am à May 1st through June 19th

Saturdays 9:30 – 10:30 am à May 3rd through June 21st         FREE

The Thursday classes cost $48 for the eight-week session. The Saturday classes are FREE and sponsored by the Friends. You can register for either or both classes at 

Volunteer Work Day

SUNDAY, JUNE 16th  10:00 am – noon

Hopefully, everything will have dried out by Sunday —  and once again, we’ll be working on removing and cutting back INVASIVE PLANTS in the Hills Pond area – on the banks of the pond and on the adjacent hillsides.

Please wear work gloves and old clothes and bring a lopper, pruners, saws.

Hills pond in Menotomy Rocks Park will be chemically treated with a USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicides/algaecides on Tuesday, May 29th to control non-native growth of curlyleaf pondweed (Potamogeton crispus).  Hills Pond will be closed to all water uses, (including, swimming, fishing and boating) on the day of treatment.  These uses may resume on Friday morning, May 30th.   Use of the pond water for irrigation (watering lawns, gardens or plants of any kind) is prohibited for 3 days post treatment.  Use of the pond water for drinking and watering livestock (i.e.; cattle, horses, etc.) is also prohibited for 3 days following the day of treatment. Printed posters warning of these temporary water use restrictions, will be posted around the lake shoreline in advance of treatment.  This work at Hills Pond is being performed for The Friends of Menotomy Rocks Park, pursuant to a License to Apply Chemicals from MA DEP (#12046) and an Order of Conditions (#91-152) permit from the Arlington Conservation Commission.  The work is being performed by the state licensed firm, Aquatic Control Technology, Inc., of Sutton.
